Wood Fussell was established in Canberra in 1978 by David Wood and David Fussell.

1988 saw the opening of a second office in Melbourne. In the following year the Melbourne practice was further enlarged with the acquisition of Shannons.

In 2011 the ACT Law Society journal recognised that Wood Fussell had achieved longest continuous surviving partnership in the territory.

It is forecast that by 2030 Melbourne will be Australia’s largest city. To meet this exciting challenge the partners decided in 2011 that the firm would concentrate all future growth strategy into Melbourne. To support this decision extra staff have joined the firm as well as enlarged office accommodation being secured.
